Hints on Working with IPS
We pretty much want the same things you want. We like you to respect our time and we do so in return. We like you to be honest with us. We like it when you are realistic.
Honesty
We cannot overstress this: being straightforward will only help you. The more we know about your past experiences, the better equipped we are to market your talent.
Tell us where you have interviewed. It won't be helpful to you or to us if we try to introduce you to people you have spoken to already. It makes us all look bad.
Tell us if you are working with another staffing firm. We understand. We never blame you for doing what you think is best.
Tell us the good and the bad when it comes to your work history. We can often give you valuable advice on how to minimize their effect on your future. Usually it is not nearly as bad as you think. We handle these situations day in and day out, and if you trust us to help, we are able to guide you. One thing is for certain: the sooner we know, the more we can help. Letting past problems surface during the later stages of the interview process is a great way to lose a great job.
Being Realistic
It is always our goal to meet and exceed your expectations. As with all services, this requires that the expectations are realistic from the beginning. If you come to us looking for a position 3 blocks from your house with better hours and a $10,000 raise, we will try to find it however, these guidelines rarely result in a successful match. It is our promise to you that we will be honest with you from the start about what you can expect. Priority one is always to find the best match, and sometimes that does turn up in your backyard.
In general
We know the employers and talk to them frequently. If you are forthcoming with us, we will be better equipped to make that perfect match.
We want you to succeed whether it is through us or not. Our whole business is staying in touch with successful people. We have done it successfully since 1970.
